With low blood sugar all the time out medical providers and ADA recommend :
What about sugar level? Did ADA ever published how sugar spike in blood after dropping to low level? How spike depend from the lowest point in sugar dropping? It is easy to say that 70 mg/dl is low level. Usually people like myself, diabetics type 2 do not have so high low blood sugar that we need to take extra actions such as 15-20 g of carbs or glucose. When sugar is low, it is less then 50 mg/dl. Lowest level my meter detected was 38 mg/dl. In this condition I cannot take any glucose or carbs. I need someone who will help me with meal.
People who has blood sugar low then 50 mg/dl usually do have high blood sugar level. Then usual level of sugar is higher then low drops lower. When there is no high blood sugar then there is no low drops in level of sugar. So, when diabetics type 1 who take 12 units of insulin pretend they suffer from low blood sugar and they are in great danger, it is more possible the scam. 10 units of insulin would not lead to low blood sugar ether in diabetic type 1 nether in non-diabetic. In contrary diabetics type 2 who have A1c up to 12% easy to get to fatally low blood sugar with incorrect insulin therapy.
Now, after one takes 20 g of carbs what suppose to happen? Blood sugar will go up. Right. But what about diabetic's condition? Does it help diabetic to get back in wagon? Not at all. Diabetes is abnormally high sugar level in blood. When sugar getting too high diabetic hungry, extremely hungry, why? There is nothing for cell to be passed. All meal converted into glucose, but still, no meal to body to function. Is there is something new to anyone? Not at all. Every one do know it. If so, then why no one thing how 20 g or carbs will effect diabetic body? Sugar will up, right, but .... .
I am diabetic type 2. I do have 300 units of insulin daily. Recently my sugar went up and up because I do have severe headache. Probably it was another silent stroke. It is silent for our medical providers, but it is way too loud for us. To curb sugar from being out of control I increased dose of insulin and highest dose was 434 units withing 24 hours. Then sugar started to drop. Every time when sugar dropping, it is low blood sugar. It is not possible to avoid, at least I do know how. I simple accept is and try to curb any abnormal level, high or low.
At first night when sugar dropped I did take my meal with help of my man, and went to bed. In the morning sugar was over 200 mg/dl.
Next time we went to boating on Forked Lake. On way back to beach I felt low sugar, and I took my rescue meal, cappuccino and protein bar. Usually it works, and... it did not work in this time. I still hungry, and was very very weak. The beach was too far. There is nothing what could help me. But after about 30 min protein bar did the job, and hunger started to vanish. I took another cappuccino and there was a beach. We went to the first available eatery.
Next day we went to another lake to take water adventure. But now I was smarter. I took my rescue meal and insulin pen with needle. There is very lovely island in the middle of the lake, not private, stopped on it and I took 100 units of Lantus Solo Star, and then my rescue meal, no glucose of cause. Glucose lead to crush, hit very very bad. I never take hard candy, cookies, or sugar. It is best way to collapse.
Low blood sugar. I never take any carbs or sweets or anything like that. Just think about, and try to do your own study. If you are hungry then take sugar or syrup, how it will help you? If you prefer to go to take Pizza then why it is good for me to take syrup? I am the same like anyone, but with one difference, with limited insulin secretion, with ill pancreas which cannot secret insulin or does not have storage to keep insulin ready. So, the same as everyone I go to Pizza, or eatery, and order soup, hot soup, any one they do have. Then sugar getting up. Still, if there is no insulin in my blood available to be used right away, it will not help me till insulin start to do the job and sugar will enter into cell. So, I take shot of insulin, and now I can eat as normal as anyone else.
Well, it is my discovery. I did not find this tip in any medical text book, or any medical booklets. But it works for me very well, and I use it.
Hypoglycemia is a condition characterized by abnormally low blood glucose (blood sugar) levels, usually less than 70 mg/dl. However, it is important to talk to your health care provider about your individual blood glucose targets, and what level is too low for you.So, it is recommendations by ADA. Now how it looks like from diabetic type 2 point of health and function? It looks very very different. Every time after having low blood sugar I do have high blood sugar. Higher then I used to have before the low. Why? Well, medical provider will say, I did take too many cabs. It is easy to answer. A low-carb diet limits carbs to 50 to 150g per day.So, 20 g is almost all what I can take if I am on low carb diet. But what if this does not work and I need to repeat this treatment? Do I have to take carbs for the rest of my day? Looks like not. Because of if the low blood sugar happened after morning meal which was too low in calories and carbs and these lead to the low blood sugar, then I already took all my daily limit in carbs. Just 39 min, and there is no meal for the rest of my day.
Treatment:
http://ift.tt/14sZ49L
- Consume 15-20 grams of glucose or simple carbohydrates
- Recheck your blood glucose after 15 minutes
- If hypoglycemia continues, repeat.
- Once blood glucose returns to normal, eat a small snack if your next planned meal or snack is more than an hour or two away.
