Dogs on SU, carbutamide
Dog's blood sugar : 96 mg/dl
One hour and half after administartion of carbutamide BS= 50 mg/dl.
Two hours after administration of carbutamide BS= 37 mg/dl.
Animal died despite of intravenous glucose infusion. Death was painful. Tremor, convulsions.
This was animal experiment. For the experiment animals were operated, Part of their pancreas was removed. Then one adrenal gland was removed. And then another adrenal gland was removed. It is too sad for me to read this papers. I associate myself with that animals. We are all guinea pigs for our medical teams. They have very high goal, they have to safe The World! So, a few sucrifices are necessary and acceptable. 80,000 diabetics lost lives every year due to high or low blood sugar. Only in this case cause of death will be as it is due to diabetes. In all other cases there are other cause such as MI, stroke, and you name the rest. About 200,000 diabetics lost lives every year on all cause of death. Is someone care why they die? No. They done it for themselves. They eat too much, do not control lifestyle. Yes, it is type 2 diabetics who die timelessly. Diabetics type 2 are 90% of all diabetic population.
Diabetic dog. 85% of pancreas removed. If all 100% of pancreas removed then SU will have no effect of high glucose number. So, to test SU only 85% of dog's pancreas was removed.
Blood sugar :
day one: 528 mg/dl
day two: 384 mg/dl
day three: 260 mg/dl
day four: 205 mg/dl
day five: 380 mg/dl
day six: 466 mg/dl
Animal never recovered. After six day dog died with intense diabetes.
As it is easy to see there is no difference between human blood sugar level and dog's blood sugar level. After administration of carbutamide blood sugar started to drop. It continued to drop till day four, 205 mg/dl, almost normal random level of sugar. But It is not recovery, it was act of SU, carbutamide. Then sugar started to rise, and never dropped every after. Animal died with high blood sugar level.
If cause it is easy to say that there must be dose of carbutamide placed in record. What difference it will make? Just the amount of days or month that animal live on medicine named as SU, carbutamid. The final result is not avoidable. After pancreas was wearied out and no longer was able to secret insulin, animal die. This is why with any oral medicine regardless of it dose or name of medicine diabetics type 2 die less then 10 years after being diagnosed with diabetes. In all medicine which developed to treat diabetes type 2 no one based on the fact that diabetes is limited insulin secretion. The goal of any doctor is to reduce level of sugar in any cause, and as soon as it can be done. Easy to see, SU take bull by the horn. Together with bull diabetic go down and never recovery. The end of story.
SU will work longer in diabetic type 2. At least not every one diabetic type 2 has so limited insulin secretion. Some do have 50% working pancreas. They will be good with insulin injections. With oral medicine they will gone less then withing 10 years after therapy, and life style modifications. They named it as : "Cost Effective Treatment". SU and metformin are cheap. Insulin is expensive. As usual, death is free, and life cost money.
