November is Diabetes Awareness Month. Everyone talking about healthy eating, and pretend that this is what make diabetics to be diabetics. Just not healthy life style.
Another trick our Medical Care Providers and all medical publications educate public is that if diabetics type 1 miss just one shot of insulin they can die. In contrary with diabetics type 2, who have to live healthy with sugar level 599 mg/dl. Just try it. I did. It did not work for me.
There are plenty of education programs, diabetes prevention programs, and so on. There is no info how diabetes type 2 diagnosed. No one clear understanding or marks to diagnose when diabetic type 2 and when it is diabetes type 1. I am diabetic type 2. I need 300 units of insulin daily dose. Diabetics type 1 need less then 50, and very often they take less then 25 units and even less then 10 units. Do not say me they never miss insulin shot. We all do it sometimes.
Today my blood sugar is 69 mg/dl. Yesterday it was 70 mg/dl. Looks like sugar is stable and I can be safe from low or high level of sugar. I am not. There is the same level of fasting blood sugar Today and Yesterday. There is not the same dose of injected insulin dose. Day before Yesterday I injected just two shots 80 units each. Fasting blood sugar was 70 mg/dl. It is easy to assume that 160 units is my dose and to prevent low blood sugar I should not increase this dose. I am not first day use insulin, and I do know way to well how many tricks diabetes play with us. So, Yesterday I injected two shots 80 units each and one shot 55 units, the rest of the pen. Today sugar is 69 mg/dl. The same as it was day before with 160 units of injected insulin. These are tricks our diabetes play every time.
I posted many times, I discovered best way to reduce extreme hunger when blood sugar is low. I take insulin shot. Tricky, is not it? It works for me perfectly. So today in the morning when sugar was already 69 mg/dl I took 80 units of insulin Lantus Solo Star, took my morning glass of Mineral Water from Saratoga Springs, and took my morning meal. After I took all my morning medicine. No low blood sugar episode. Fantastic result.
Why really take insulin when blood sugar is low? It is already high level of insulin in blood. Really? How do you know it? We never tested for the level of insulin in our blood. We test level of sugar in blood, but it is not the same. We could assume that if sugar is high then insulin is low, yes it could work if we do know one more valuable, the level of energy we need to function. Then probably this formula would work. It work on math. If we do have Sum=5 then A+B=5 when A is 3 then B is 2. This formula does not work for diabetics. We simple do have only one valuable, level of sugar in blood. So, the level of insulin can be high or low, or anything else.
I use another understanding. When my blood sugar is low I am very hungry. When I start to eat I became more hungry then I was before my first bite. Why? Insulin secretion in my body is very very slow. After meal blood sugar level rises up to from 4 to 5 hours. In non-diabetic body withing two hours after meal blood sugar return to normal level. It is different in my body. There is very limited ability to secret insulin, and insulin secretion is very very slow. This is why I am extremelly hungry when blood sugar is low and I took my first bite.
So, I tried another regime. I started to take insulin shot, not short acting insulin such as Novolog, it never worked for me, but long acting insulin, Lantus Solo Star, right before the meal when blood sugar is low. It works perfectly. Just perfect for me.
It is all the time great fear to take insulin injection when blood sugar is low. What if it will not work? What if in stead to solve the problem I push myself deeper into darkness? And all my mind resists the action. So, I take meal, and resist to inject insulin, play safety. The result is the same all the time. I take more meal then I suppose to. But it is more then that. I am very weak, low energy, not able to move, and all what I am able to do just go to sleep right after meal. Right opposite with insulin injection. There is no any problem after meal. I can function properly, and really very active, as active as I can in present my condition.
