MONDAY, Dec. 12, 2016 (HealthDay News) -- There are a number of questions you should ask if a doctor or other health care provider prescribes opioid painkillers such as Oxycontin, Vicodin, codeine and morphine, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration says.It is great! They teach us what to ask doctor. Why no one teach doctor what to say to patients before Rx medicine to them? Why it is patient who must tell to doctor what doctor Rx to patient?
First, ask why you need the medication, is it right for you, and are there non-opioid options? So, what is expectation what doctor would say to patient when doctor already made mind to Rx this medicine for one reason or another? Would doctor say to patient that he, doctor, need to take patient on hook to hold him as life stuck? You must be kidding! Doctor would say that patient needs this medicine, and bring up a lot of reason whay he Rx this medicine. The first reason is, he, doctor, is busy to care for other patients, he, doctor, do not have time to discuss his medicine choice. And by the way, are you sure patient has any chance to discuss medicine doctor Rx? Usually we do have Rx for medicine, it is sent right to pharmacy and have no one idea what is this medicine before it is in our medical box. Foe that time visit is already in past.
The question is, does authors do know how the visits and discussion doctor-patient go on? Really?
If your health care provider thinks an opioid painkiller is the best choice, ask the doctor to prescribe the lowest dose and the smallest quantity. Find out when to call to follow-up with the health care provider on how well the opioid is working, as well as when and how to stop or taper off use of the drug, the FDA said in a news release.Really, why do I need a doctor? Do I really need this type of dialog when doctor do not want even see me? Or authors really think we are so stupid that only doctor can provide info we need? Think twice. It is internet, we all use it, otherwise to whome you publish this article, right? So, instead to ask a doctor, who will never give right and honest answer to me I prefer to take a look what this medicine is about, what side effect it has. What other patients who already took this medicine said about it? And most important, I never take two different new medicine at the same time, never.
I take medicine in slow steps, one step at one time. I put all medicine I take into my log book to see if medicine work for me and I getting better, or it has side effects which makes me ill. If medicine is not good for me how do I feel, then forget to ask doctor to change medicine or to provide me with talking barking therapy. I simple do not take it.
This was how I stopped to take Metformin, and all other medicine to control my blood sugar level, very high BTW. So, one day when I recognized what make me so ill, I dropped all what doctor proudly presented it is good for me, and demanded Insulin as my first treatment for blood sugar control. It took long time before doctors, many of them, finally gave up and now I do have insulin as my treatment plan. They still try to Rx Metformin, every one dibetic type 2 must take Metformin, according to doctors Does not matter whom I asked why I have to take this medicine. They never able to say anything reasonable. I do not ask questions. I simple say, 'no', and it is final.
To reduce the risk of side effects, take the medication exactly as prescribed. If you still have pain, call your health care provider. Do not take an extra dose. How it is easy to type! Just try to call to doctor. Just be reasonable. I am really reasonable, what is the point to publish all this scam? Still try to get the idea. No luck so far.
Learn about serious side effects, such as excessive sleepiness or a craving for more of the medication, so you and your family will know when to call a doctor or go to the hospital. Ask your pharmacist if your prescription comes with a medication guide, which are paper handouts that come with many prescription medicines and provide detailed information.Put finger, and there is The Sky!!!!!!!!!! The question is, why to ask pharmacy if medicine come with guided information? Why simple do not take a look inside the package from the pharmacy if there are handouts. If it is not then ask pharmacy to print it. Because of my pharmacy do know I read ill info bout medicine, they all the time put the patient's info into my medical box.
"Tell your health care provider about any history you have had with substance misuse or addiction to drugs or alcohol and if you have a history of smoking cigarettes. You should also tell your health care provider if anyone in your family has had a problem with substance misuse, alcoholism or drug addiction," the FDA said.Never say so, regardless if it is true or false, you never used tobacco or abused anything, nether one in your family did. Do I need to say to you, why do you need never to answer to this questions in positive way? Great! They all try to present us, we do have issue with conduct. I cannot say, I do not eat. I am about 400 lbs, so regardless do I eat or not, there is evidence I am over eater, emotional eater, and so on. Still, they cannot say about anyone of us, did we smoke or never did it. It is war BTW, and we are far away from being friends with Medical Providers.
"It is also very important that you tell your health care provider about all of the medicines you are taking, especially those prescribed to treat anxiety, sleeping problems, or seizure. Even medicines you take only occasionally could interact with the opioid pain medicine. Ask your health care provider about possible interactions," the FDA advised. This is important. They all the time said so that we have to say what medicine we take. The reason why they do need it to know? Really, why they need this info? Would the medicine I take right now effect in any way doctor going to Rx to me? Never. Would doctor take a look at how medicine interact one with another? Never. Usually it is pharmacy do great job. Medical Provider never pay any attention to what we said. Then what is the reason of all this time waste? Dr. easy to Rx what patient already takes. This is why they all Rx the same medicine years after years, and pretend, it is medical condition which progressive. Not at all. It is medicine which is not effective why we do not have healing.
"You should discuss with your doctor whether you should also receive a prescription for naloxone, a drug that can reverse the effects of an opioid overdose and could save lives. In many cases, it makes sense to be prepared for potential problems by keeping naloxone in your home," the FDA said.If I have to ask health care provider all those questions then why do I need this provider? I am capable to ask professional question, and I am not capable to take choice from medicine with all info published on handout? Really, do I need doctor? What job left for doctor?
