The study found that 4 in 10 of the patients weren't getting the blood thinners they needed to cut their stroke risk. Plus, up to 35 percent of patients who were taking the drugs weren't getting them at the recommended amount. It is studies, as usual. It does not matter what studies found, the treatment depend from doctor and his ability or willing. Every doctor has right to practice Art of Medicine. I am not doctor. I have no rights. So, if doctor practice, or do not want to practice my safe or well being, it means, I would not have medicine I desperately need.
Better Treatment Might Prevent Hundreds of Thousands of Strokes

Seriously, why do not I have Coumadin in my treatment regime? I am 65 years old. I do have diabetes type 2, history or stroke and MI, Pulmonary Embolism, and now there is something wrong with my leg. Why it is so severe edema? Why wounds do not healing? Why? Why? and so why?
Well, probably the answer is in our medical records. I try to find out what was the reason I was in ED and in hospital recently? What was diagnose? There is no diagnose. There is no record I was in hospital in first place. What is interesting I found, and I was not able to get it, why there is so fanny graphic with my weight? Really fanny. Recently I lost 100 pounds, just withing a few days, about two days. So Good of me! Not so fast. Just withing next two or so days I gained 101 pounds! W H A T? This is my medical record! Still, in my medical record there is no record what was diagnose I was in ED and in hospital.
There is another interesting thing in my Summary of medical visits. So, I come to clinic with pain in left leg, and swelling. So, what was discussion and plan for treatment? Refer to the mammogram. After plans like this one they pretend, it is we are who created anecdotes. No, I am not creator. I just read Summary of my visit with open mind. I even was not able to laugh. Too sad for me.
So now, there is no Coumadin. In Summary it even was not mentioned. The same there is no scooter I need to get around. Looks like it is not for me.
"Though not a life-threatening rhythm abnormality per se, atrial fibrillation can be associated with devastating life-altering consequences, namely disabling stroke," said one expert, Dr. Nicholas Skipitaris. He directs cardiac electrophysiology at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City. When people look at obese person like myself with laboring breathing, they usually think it is because of my obesity. It is not. Simple, heart does not have energy to pump the blood. It is difficult to get when one is not in our shoe. We all see what is on the surface. But the problem is no so easy to see. It is easy to see obesity, and easy to see how difficult do I breath. What is not possible to see that every cell of mine floating in water, so high edema is. Not easy to see that my heart suffer damage after recent clot passed through. This event see no one, medical doctors including.
Today I had clinic. When we went out of home I soddenly lost breathing before the door. Just could not take another step. Why? I do not know. But after short rest breath returned and I was able to go to clinic. Doctor suggested I have to take test and it is possible to do right now, today, no additional trip to hospital. "It is right here, in the main building, just cross the street. It is not too far," - he said. It is not to far if one is not morbid. I am not one. I am not able to walk so far. Also I do know, there will not be scooter withing next two weeks, before my next appointment. So, I took the challenge.
I walked fro one building to another, crossed street, took elevator, and then we walked long was in hospital hallways to the office where test was taken. My Goodness! I had done all this trip. When it is suggested that we are not practice activity, then try to take the trip to Everest. For me it as about the same. At least if not to the top of Everest then for the top of Hunter mountain for sure. I had done this hike! And then all way back to the street where my man pick me up.
When we returned home I fall asleep instantly. I almost was not able to get home from car to my apartment.
Now my man changed dressing, put on compressing sleeve, and I am pretty comfortable with it. At least, wounds are not wet, and do not in severe pain. What is going on with my legs? Why wounds are not healing? No diagnose. No answer. No any records in my medical file so far. Treatment with antibiotics, with diuretics I refuse to take, and with some cream to apply on wounds. Also it is wrap, decompression, and bandage which my man think as his second job to do.
"Atrial fibrillation is a major cause of stroke -- at older ages, it is almost the single leading cause," said Dr. Richard Libman, vice chair of neurology at Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New Hyde Park, N.Y.Really I did not get this humor: does this condition leads to death or not? So difficult to get it. Almost the same as the refuse to Rx Coumadin to me. They all the time try to educate me, I do not need it, but I still out of understanding, why? I feel very nice with heparin. If Coumadin is not the same then Rx Heparin to me, right? Wrong. And I am not able to get to the point.
"Sometimes, anticoagulants are withheld simply because the person is old or beyond a certain age," he added, "but these older people are actually at increased risk of stroke from atrial fibrillation, and stand to benefit from taking these medications."Actually, anticoagulants withhold early then we became too old to use it. The same as Insulin. Try to get first box of insulin, or high dose of insulin if one think that insulin is better treatment then Invokana. Just try it. I am sure, it is almost not possible. Insulin saved many millions lives. Still diabetes type 2 number 7 cause of death, and there is no insulin as first line of treatment for diabetics type 2. Coumadin can safe our lives, prevent disability, keep our mobility. No Coumadin for me so far. I try to get this medicine one year after another. I am survivor. I still fight strokes and MI, and clots still dissolving in my blood.
