Trulicity Vs Lantus Solo Star. September 3, 2016

Limitations of Use: Not recommended as first-line therapy for patients inadequately controlled on diet and exercise because of the uncertain relevance of rodent C-cell tumor findings to humans. Prescribe only if potential benefits outweigh potential risks. Has not been studied in patients with a history of pancreatitis; consider another antidiabetic therapy. Not for the treatment of type 1 diabetes mellitus or diabetic ketoacidosis. Not a substitute for insulin. Has not been studied in patients with severe gastrointestinal disease, including severe gastroparesis. Not for patients with pre-existing severe gastrointestinal disease.
Studies from Lilly show powerful effect on A1C

It is easy to jump into wagon just looking at the studies results: 52 injections vs 365. What is this about? Really, is this so important one take 52 injections or 365? BTW, where from this numbers come? Interesting. Because of Trulicity is one shot a week, it is 52 shots a year. Lantus Solo Star is one shot daily, so it is 365 shots a year. So, what studies studied? What are the finding? That in every year the number of weeks is less then number of days.
Great Discovery!
Now let us take a look at the use of Trulicity, and it effectiveness.
Starting dose of Lantus was 10 units daily. Lantus titration was based on self-measured fasting plasma glucose utilizing an algorithm with a target of <100 mg/dL; 24% of patients were titrated to goal at the 52-week primary endpoint. Mean daily dose of Lantus was 29 units at the primary endpoint.
It is presented as a result. Still, in study there is no starting point.  What the stage of diabetes diabetic was at the time when treatment with Trulicity was initiated? That's right. It is said that starting dose was 10 units of Luntus Solo Star, for what degree of beta cells destruction? Diabetes is Endocrine System Disorder when diabetic's pancreas is not able to secret sufficient amount of insulin. At the starting point what degree of diabetic's pancreas was limited to secret insulin? No info.
Let us take another look at the studies:
Not recommended as first-line therapy for patients inadequately controlled on diet and exercise because of the uncertain relevance of rodent C-cell tumor findings to humans.
So, if I understood it correctly, if diabetes is in advanced stage then it does not matter what medicine diabetic need to take, Lantus Solo Star, with will curb diabetes development and eventually safe diabetic's life, parts of body, money, and tragedy, or Trulicity, which will transfer money from health insurance companies to the medical pockets, Lily including?
WARNING: RISK OF THYROID C-CELL TUMORS

In male and female rats, dulaglutide causes a dose-related and treatment-duration-dependent increase in the incidence of thyroid C-cell tumors (adenomas and carcinomas) after lifetime exposure. It is unknown whether Trulicity causes thyroid C-cell tumors, including medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC), in humans as human relevance of dulaglutide-induced rodent thyroid C-cell tumors has not been determined.

Trulicity is contraindicated in patients with a personal or family history of MTC and in patients with Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2). Counsel patients regarding the potential risk of MTC with use of Trulicity and inform them of symptoms of thyroid tumors (eg, mass in the neck, dysphagia, dyspnea, persistent hoarseness). Routine monitoring of serum calcitonin or using thyroid ultrasound is of uncertain value for early detection of MTC in patients treated with Trulicity.
Did I said, Trulicity will speed diabetic's life end? They confirmed it. Just read what they said, and not what they try to put in your mind, but what they really talking about. It is difficult to hide the true if one is critical to the brain washing.
As I can say, really I do not care the number of times needle enter into my belly, once a week, or four times a day.  What I do care is, how safe my legs and hands right now. So, I went to primary clinic. Doctor of cause was too busy to come to see me. He sent his scribe.Well, she asked what bring me to clinic, and I said, it is my legs.
Scribe left office, to see my primary who was in his office drinking his coffee, as I suspect, and then returned: "You have to see eye doctor." Is this humor? If so it is far away from being fun for me. It took month to heal my wounds, to dry my legs, both of them. Now the same problem developing on my hands. Probably I need to see dentist? Or go to beauty salon to get heir cut?
Well, I am not insulin resistant diabetic type 2. Actually I take Lantus Solo Star. I do not pay any attention how many shots a day I take, I take as many as I need. For instance, Yesterday it was four shots, two in the morning and two in the eve, bed time. Why 4? Because of in the morning there were to pens, and only 127 in two of them. Usually I take 160 units. But I did not take third shot from a new pen. In the eve  when I took next dose of insulin, I took only 100 units. I forgot that in the morning there were only 127 units, rather then 160 units. Now I had to add 33 units more. This is how insulin injections come to number 4 in stead of only two. Really, what difference it makes? Nothing. It is not the number of injections which effect A1c, but the dose of medicine injected.
BTW, about A1c, why it is so important to reduce A1c? Sorry, not for me.  To see how insulin effect my health and well being, I control daily monitor reading, not A1c. If sugar go up and up, I do increase dose of insulin in every injection. When calamities over, numbers on the display of glucose meter go down, I decrease the dose of insulin. This action leads to numbers go up, but it does not matter. Just a few days, and balance restored. I decrease dose of insulin in injection. As I said above, it is not the number on the glucose meter I have to fight. It is not the level of sugar in blood, which is diabetes. Diabetes is Endocrine System Disorder. Level of sugar in blood just for reference.
There somewhere in this blog how many units of insulin I injected. The highest dose withing 24 hours was 434 units, not long time ago.. Yesterday I injected 260 units, and today my sugar is 85 mg/dl.
To see, which medicine is best, simple look at the numbers on your own meter. If numbers go down, then the medicine is good for you. If it does not, and you need to take some other medicine, such as Metfromin, or any other types of medicine, then simple stay away from this medicine. It does not work in the way it presented. Also it is good choice to take a look at the history of disease development, and what type of medicine was used through the ages. How did it work? Today diabetics type 1 who were diagnosed with diabetes when there were children at age of teen or early childhood, they live, and they are over 60 right now. What about us, type 2 diabetics who take all Trash Medicine rather then insulin, and die less then 10 years after diabetes was diagnosed. Do your math, what do you want?
BTW, Trulicity is far away from being 'cost effective'. If diabetic started to take insulin in early stage, the cost of insulin therapy would not be skyrocket. It is my dose, 300 units daily dose, cost $2000 a month. It is 6 boxes of insulin Lantus Solo Star. When I just started insulin therapy I needed less then 60 units a day. My weight went down. The dose of insulin dropped. So? One time after another insulin delivery was stopped till in 2014 I almost lost my life due to almost fatal level of sugar in blood. Sugar was so high that blood did not go into meter. It was high density syrup. What doctors said? "You do not need insulin. You have to lose weight."
I am medical bran washing resistant. I do not care amount of pounds on bathroom scale. What I am proud of, I can live independently, walk on two legs, and able to use my own brain.  I am proud, who I am.
