BERLIN – Use of diuretics may increase the risk for lower limb amputations in people with diabetes, and the same hypovolemic effect might help explain the increased risk of amputations seen with the sodium-glucose cotransporter type 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor canagliflozin (Invokana, Janssen), new data suggest. What did I post today? Do not let your brain be washed!!!!!!!!!!!!

I noted that diuretics increased my level of sugar. Also it increased heart rate. And most important, and it is really very very odd, it increased my weight. It was about ten years ago. I just survived stroke, and nurse Rx diuretic for me. It is 'must have' medicine for almost every one. We all need to lose weight, and reduce BP, and so so on. At that time I lost weight naturally. Not very fast, but steady down. Also I took only 100 units of Insulin. I was doing very well. But we all wish to be better and faster. So, I started to take Furocemid.
My sugar got up. My heart started to work so odd that it was the time I thought my heart stopped. It was too long gap between beats. Now I do not have this situation. I took a look in my log book, and guess what? It started as soon as I started to take Diuretics. I stopped it, and never returned to this medicine every since.
Still, what to do with Edema, high water retention condition? In hospital I got water pills, and Metformin. They did not say me I take this medicine. On my arm there was red allergy bans, no diuretics, no Metformin. But who really listen the patient? No one.
I was discharged from hospital on care of my man.I finally found the way. I went to Wound Care Clinic. They done good job. Wounds closed. Since that time I wear my legs wrapped. If I do not they get back to the wounds. There are no treatment for this condition by amputation.
At least I did not have one.
Edema is symptom of heart condition and stroke. When it is stroke all body collect water. Face swelling, all body swelling. When it is heart attack, legs are swelled. Water retention. And diuretics do not help. Really, what to do?
I am not med pro. There is no way I give any medical edvice. I just say what did I have and how did I fight this condition. Just probably it will help to someone.
My legs looks like dirty. It is not. It is the color they do have because of Diabetes type 2. Diabetes type 2 presented as it is when sugar is above 128 mg/dl. No one consider that it is sugar above 699 mg/dl, How high is it go? I do not know. Home meters does not show numbers above 599 mg/dl. With this number I suggest to those who pretend that they re-versed diabetes type 2 naturally just to out, go for a walk, if you can. I could not.
Asked to comment, session comoderator Anna Katharina Trocha, MD, chief physician at the department of diabetology at Elisabeth Hospital, Essen, Germany, urged caution about interpretation of the findings as heart failure wasn't one of the factors in the propensity score adjustment because of lack of available data.Well, it is all the time suggested that we have to use medicine with caution. How to do so? At least say it, what I suppose to do when my sugar is above 599 mg/dl and my medicine is Invokana and Metformin? As usual, there are all the time studies, but still diabetics type 2 die from medical condition which can be effectively treated today. 80,000 American lives every year taken by Diabetes. Diabetes type 2 is 90% of all American diabetic population. Say me, whose lives are taken, type 1 or type 2? Diabetics type 1 live 60 + years after starting Insulin injections. Diabetics type 2 live less then 10 years after being diagnosed with diabetes type 2, if we do not start to take insulin.
I am diabetic type 2. 10 years I took Live style modifications, metformin and SU. Finally I developed Heart attack, strokes, many of them. Finally I put it trash all medicine I took to reduse blood sugar and started to take Insulin only. I started with 11 units. Highest dose I injected was 720 units. And now I take all between. First shot I took in 2011. Now it is 2018. I still alive. I hope to keep it in this way.
