Why it is in diabetics type 2 who 65+ low sugar is common? I tried to read all article, and I found no any reason, why this article was published. OK, it is low sugar in adult diabetics type 2. If so, then why this low sugar happened? In what case and where diabetic type 2 had very low blood sugar, so low that this level lead to Death of diabetic? and so so on questions I wish to ask, or find out in article. In stead, there are only one point of discussion, adult diabetics type 2 have low blood sugar, and primary doctor must identify patients with high risk of low blood sugar, and prevent these episodes.Hypoglycemia is particularly common in adults who have type 2 diabetes and are 65 and older.
Now, let us face it as it faced by Primary MD. What MD suppose to do? How MD suppose to prevent these episodes? There is only one way to do this prevention, to Rx diet and work out. If blood sugar still high Metformin is safe to Ex. With treatment like that diabetic type 2 never will die because of low blood sugar. Diabetic type 2 will die because of high blood sugar. So simple. Low blood sugaar go hand - by- hand with high blood sugar. There is no possible to prevent or to avoid low blood sugar. It must be faced. Diabetic type 2 and his/her family must do know what to do in case of low sugar.
I think, in article it must be somehow identified, what MD suppose to do, if diabetic type 2 do have low blood sugar. MD does not know it.
There is a little bit more about low sugar in diabetics type 2. When and how low blood sugar was recorded? Regardless of how many times I had low blood sugar, no one MD my Primary and Endo including, do know about these episodes. They are in my log book only, never in my file. Why?
At first, Low sugar is Emergency Situation. I have to act right away, no time to call MD or go to hospital.
Second, what treatment I would have in ER? Glucose overloading. Next reading would be extremely high. But regardless of the dose of glucose, it is very low in efficiency. Because of I do know it way too well, I never go to ER or any other MD. I simple try to get something to eat right away. Not sugar or something sweet, but hot chicken brow, or hot coffee with milk, or orange juice. Protein bar all the time is handy so I can take it and eat it right away in any situation. This is my way to deal with low blood sugar.
This is not the way as we treated in hospitals. There no any meal if it is night time. For diabetic type 2 who takes insulin there is no meal available in case low blood sugar. No one nurse station has any meal to give to diabetic type 2 in case of emergency situation. This is why hospitals are most danger place for diabetics type 2. No one do know how to treat us, so we simple get discharged as soon as we can walk out of the room. Regardless of any diagnose. We are not welcome in hospitals.
Why low blood sugar happened?
There is only one way, why blood sugar got low. to high level of sugar in blood that there is no longer Scam Therapy with Weight Loss Surgery can be applied and diabetic type 2 hot SU or Insulin, only two types of medicine which usually lead to low sugar. In hospital diabetic type 2 with very high reading of sugar in blood will have IV infusion of insulin, determined by .... body weight. In attempt to prevent low drops, at the same time with insulin diabetic get glucose loading. This is best way to develop Low Blood Sugar. Most diabetics type 2 die in hospitals with this type of therapy. Deaths are 100% preventable. But barbarian treatment lead patients right to the grave.
In case of high blood sugar there is no way but inject insulin. If level of sugar is not too high, less then well, I do not know what level of sugar would be open doors to ICU for diabetic type 2. If it is possible, diabetic type 2 would be left alone in ED till get better or gone.
Then higher blood sugar level then dangerously low it drops. It is shock therapy. Most diabetics type 2 do not survive this episode.
There is another way to treat diabetic type 2 in hospital with high blood sugar level.
At first, insulin must be injected, low dose, never according to the body weight or BMI. Just to find out what dose of insulin diabetic would be able to tolerate. I took 10 units of Novolog, and 10 units of Lantus Solo Star, when I had the episode which could end my life. About an hour I injected another dose of insulin, lantus Solo Star, and 10 units of Novolog. When level of sugar started to drop, and my body did not twisted I started to take one shot after another Lantus solo Star, but not Novolog. Novolog only to reduce dangerously high blood sugar number. Then Lantus Solo Star is better.
Now time passed. I do not have so high numbers. But I take high dose of insulin, 610 units a day. Highest dose I injected was 740 units, but it happened only once. Today I do have low blood sugar, I think. I really did not feel it is as low, very unusual. The sugar is 45 mg/dl. Lowest level of sugar I recorded on my meter was 38 mg/dl, but it happened long time ago. Probably for me it is time to start to lowering dose of insulin. I am not sure yet, but probably it is time.
