Is Obesity a Disease or a Choice? July 11, 2018

Is Obesity a Disease or a Choice?
Interesting question. Is it black or white? Is this really only two colors to be considered? The disease can be temporary or fatal, severe or light, and all the colors from white to black. If se then why it is only one choice, obesity is choice or it is medical condition?
Every time every one of us complete list of questions when we come to clinic. One of them is: did you gain or lost weight recently? Many treatments, medicine, have side effects to gain or to lose weight, such as Insulin and Invokana. If so, then what is it, our choice or it is disease? Nether one. One of the symptoms of diabetes is weight gain. So not this symptom turned out as to be the course of diabetes type 2. What happened with the fact that adult diabetics in past were usually overweight? In contrary, children were skinny. In past, 100 years ago in every hospital there was ward were comatose diabetic children died. There is no such wards in our modern hospitals, thanks to Dr. Banting and his discovery of  Insulin.
If obesity is disease then there must be tests to diagnose this medical condition. There is only one test, bathroom scale. With this test it is not possible to see what condition lead to the weight gain. And of cause, if one stop to eat then one would not have this condition. Really? Do not be so fast.
Diabetes type 2 presented as it is people choice. Because of people do not stop to eat they gain weight, and it lead to insulin resistance. Something like that. So, according to this presentation, when people eat less, they lose weight, so blood sugar getting low. This is also very well supported by the fact that when one does not eat, level of sugar dropping, compare with level of sugar after meal. It is well known fact.
What is not well known fact is, that blood sugar never drops low in person without limited insulin secretion or inability to store insulin after being secreted. Why so? The fact and law must be the same as for any person, ill or healthy, if it is our choice, right? There is another fact. If level of insulin secretion is very low then after meal diabetic is hungry, more hungry then before one started to eat. This hunger is so severe that regardless of if stomach is full and overloaded with meal, diabetic still hungry. At the same time, a few units of insulin before the meal reduce hunger, and diabetic does not need to eat more then body system needs. No one study this fact. No one publications, how it works, and why. Try it, and see if it is true or false.
There is fact, in many cases when one is getting sick or ill, one stopping to eat, and only a small portion of brow needed to be forced to put  into ill person mouth. But when ill person starting to recovery, appetite returns. This is law of Recovery. In contrary with natural law, diabetics forced to stop to eat, and presented that with weight lost  they will get diabetes-free. No one every was cured with this lie. But there are many evidence  that people with high body weight survive and live longer then those who are trying too heard to lose weight. Unfortunately, no one studies in this direction.
